Our Next Concert

Puccini Messa di Gloria and the 2019 Joan Carden Award Final

Our August concert features Puccini’s youthful Messa di Gloria. This work, written as a graduation exercise, already reveals much of the mastery of his mature operatic works. It is thus a fitting work for a concert also featuring the finalists of the Joan Carden Award 2019 competition.

These exceptional young singers, at the beginning of their careers, will demonstrate their talents for judges and audience alike as they perform famous opera arias by the great masters. Finalists this year are sopranos Jessica Blunt, Sandra Liu and baritone Tristan Entwhistle.

In addition to the main prize of $6000, there will be a ‘Peoples’ Choice’ prize, awarded on an audience vote.

The performances will be conducted by distinguished music director, Christopher Bowen OAM.  As soloists for the choir’s performance of the Missa di Gloria we are delighted to welcome Simon Kim (tenor) and Adrian Tamburini (Bass).
