Singing On! May Concert Postponed

Due to a number of our choristers contracting COVID-19, SUGC will be postponing our first concert for the year, which was to be held this Sunday, to Sunday 5 June. We do hope you can join us on the new date!

The performance will feature a curated collection of choral and instrumental pieces in a style similar to that of the very popular and enjoyable concert we presented at Fort Street High School in May 2021.

Our program is as follows:

Cantique de Jean Racine Op.11 – Fauré
À Chloris – Hahn (Tenor)
Tantum ergo Op.55 – Fauré
West Side Story – Bernstein

Diffugere Nives is a new choral work by young Sydney composer Courtney Cousins. This work was especially commissioned by the Sydney University Graduate Choir; its world premiere will take place at this concert.

These works will be accompanied, in various combinations, by piano, string quartet and harp.

The concert will be conducted by our distinguished music director, Christopher Bowen OAM.

Amy Moore once again joins us as our soprano soloist. Amy is an accomplished soloist whose broad repertoire includes a particular focus on baroque and contemporary music.

Nathan Bryon, a young tenor, is an emerging star who has rapidly distinguished himself as an operatic singer and Oratorio soloist with Sydney orchestras and choirs

Noah Peres will provide his brilliant piano accompaniment for our concert.

We are pleased to be able to accept NSW Discover vouchers for this concert. However, these can only be redeemed for tickets purchased in person. Please present your voucher at the door to claim your $25 saving.

We will perform once again at the historic Fort Street High School in Petersham.

The concert will take place on Sunday 5 June at 3pm

I do hope that you’ll be able to join us for this very special concert.

Warmest regards,

Jane Sinclair
President, Sydney University Graduate Choir
