Choir members will be interested to hear news from Anna Dowsley, the young mezzo-soprano, who gave an outstanding performance in our memorable Verdi Requiem in April, after being highly commended by the judges in the 2012 Joan Carden Award.
Anna is currently in Siena in Tuscany, completing a summer opera program and studying Italian. She reports that she is preparing the role of ‘Prince Charming’ in Massenet’s opera, Cendrillon (Cinderella) and that she is finding the weather hot and beautiful and the food and wine “very easy to adapt to.” After this, she will resume her studies in Germany and then move to New York City, to continue her Lady Fairfax Scholarship.
Anna will be back in Australia in late November and sends her best wishes to the Choir.
